Temple of Apollo Day 3!

 Temple of Apollo

Today's adventure is going to be visiting the Temple of Apollo at Didyma. The temple is located in Mount Parnassos in central Greece. It was built in 7th BC by the two architects Trophonios and Agamedes. The temple was built to honor Apollo the god of music, harmony, light and healing. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto. It’s one of the largest temples of Greece.

As I observed there were no signs this temple had a roof. This temple was built like this! It is said to have high columns and was exposed to the sky to have an open sanctuary. The temple was destroyed during an earthquake that happened in 373 BC. But they rebuilt it once again in 330 BC by the architect Corinth.

It was an amazing view to see the mountains from the inside of the temple. I can't deny it was a long walk to get here but it was all worth it. I fell in love with the view and its background history of this temple. I can't wait for my next stop at the temple of Poseidon.
